About me
In 2004 I left Bath Spa University having studied Psychology and Religion and completed my Holistic Therapy Diploma. I then travelled until I landed in Bristol in 2007, picking up again with massage part time. It was after qualifying as a BTEC Level 5 Soft Tissue Therapist with The School (Exmouth) in 2010 my journey into movement and bodywork really began.
Since then my practice has evolved to encompass movement and rehabilitation as keystones of my approach, combining these disciplines with manual therapy to provide effective treatment. I assess the whole body and the person inside rather than single joint assessment that fails to put the parts together.
With an interest in Psychology I am very interested in the mind/body connection and the psychosocial components of an individual’s situation that can manifest as physical symptoms and perpetuate the injury cycle.
Qualified through both the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and STOTT as a Pilates Instructor I specialise in Pilates for injury rehabilitation. I am also a Corrective Exercise Specialist and I blend these skills together when teaching, bringing a dynamic, functional and fun approach to my classes.
I am a qualified AIM™ (Anatomy in Motion) practitioner which looks at the whole body in movement and gait to understand how the body functions. This is a fantastic way to trace injury and resolve long standing/recurrent pain.
I qualified in 2022 as a physiotherapist with first class honours from Cardiff University. I now work as a rotational physiotherapist in the Aneurin Bevan Health Board in Wales.
Experience
I have been working self employed as a therapist for 13 years at a number of different multi-disciplinary clinics including Bristol University Sports Medicine Clinic, The Physio Clinic and C1 Chiropractic Health Centre. I now work part time from my home clinic in Eastville.
I was a tutor and mentor for The School, lecturing on the BTEC Level 5 Soft Tissue Therapy Diploma with Anna Maria Mazzieri.
I spent 3 years working for the NHS as a musculoskeletal rehabilitation therapist in Cossham physiotherapy department which I loved and found very rewarding. This spurred me to start my Physiotherapy training at Cardiff University in 2019 to progress further and expand into other areas of rehabilitation.
I have taught Pilates for Soma Pilates, Bristol Movement Space and C1 Chiropractic Health Centre alongside private 1:1 rehabilitation classes.
My life
I live for the mountains and the great outdoors. In my spare time my husband and I head out in our camper van with the bikes on the back and a boot full of climbing gear to escape the big city and recharge our batteries with nature and space. Recent adventures have taken us to the Dolomites and Aosta Valley in Italy (picture above) for big days out on the mountain bikes and breathtaking alpine mountaineering ascents.
My main sports are mountain biking and climbing. I also like to run, snowboard and road cycle. Anything that gets my adrenaline going!
