Sports & Remedial Therapy
Sports and remedial therapy involves assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of soft tissue injury and muscular pain.
It includes soft tissue therapy, movement and exercise rehabilitation to form a complete package of care.
The focus is on remedial work to identify and treat the cause rather than just treat the symptoms, i.e. where it hurts. This ensures we get you feeling and moving better with lasting results.
The site of your pain is often the result of compensations in the way you move rather than the problem itself. We need to assess the whole body to understand the root of the problem, requiring a truly holistic approach.
Treatment is definitely not reserved for sports people or those with a sports injury. It is suitable for anyone from age 18+.
Sports massage is a valuable adjunct for those in training either for a particular event or continuous training through the year. It helps maintain healthy muscles and optimises movement to allow you train to your capacity. You may well be injury free but wish to use massage as part of your plan to remain that way.
For those who experience chronic pain, persistent tension, or struggle with stress and anxiety, remedial massage can be incredibly relieving and help to create an opportunity for the body to reset and heal. It promotes stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system which helps the body move out of ‘fight or flight’ mode into a more restorative ‘rest and digest’ mode which is vital for the body to function well and regain balance.
